Noura Mint Seymali & Mauritania’s Griots

Noura Mint Seymali comes from a prestigious line of Mauritanian musicians. Griots are West African storytellers, praise singers, poets and musicians. Her mother, Dimi Mint Abba, was one of Mauritania's most famous singers, known as "the diva of the desert," and her father, Seymali Ould, is known for adapting the country's national anthem. Noura's music merges the Sahara, Maghreb and West Africa to produce a contemporary sound.
